bad breath?

why does some people have bad breath even thought they brush daily? I work with someone whose breath smells like the bottom of a trash can or toilet bowl. it’s disturbing and I’ve tried to drop hints, but i don’t think they get it. It’s grossing alot of people out on the job. i mean their breath literally lights up the room when they come in. it’s disgusting, hot, and foul beyond comprehension. help!

If this person is a friend you might consider telling them that they need to do something about it, it could be something in there diet or gum disease but they might not realize how bad it is unless someone tactfully tells them, I hope you have good luck with this it is a very sensitive problem…..M
i want to know the answer to that. most nerds have that problem.
gastric bypass surgery can result in bad breath. could this be a option?
put a gum in your mouth and ask a person if they want one.
Or do with mints. They might accept. just pray for them to accept!
Some people do have Halitosis and this is a medical problem they need to address. They could possibly have other problems they don’t even know about that could be causing it. They could also try a toungue scraper or a very potent mouth wash. Also suggest they chew some gum to keep the saliva in their mouth going.
I agree. It’s nasty when the one with hot compost mouth walks in. But, many people have halitosis due not to dental and oral care but simply the bacteria in their mouths, which they often can’t help. And because they can’t help it, it may be best to offer gum or mints if you’re pulling it out for yourself, but try not to hurt their feelings cause they may know it’s there but not be able to do anything about it. Also, you can chew gum yourself to smell that instead of the muck mouth in the air, or put a dab of Vicks under your nose if it’s really potent.
They need to see their dentist. Unless they have poor hygiene, and you have indicated that they do not, this kind of odor is abnormal.
Mouth odor can be caused by anything from a minor infection in the gums, yeast on the tongue, tonsil ‘gunk’ (the little white smelly things that aren’t infection, just old food) to serious digestive problems such as impaction or ulcer.
Be kind, but let them know they have an odor problem and encourage them to go to their dentist instead of being embarassed about it.

could be tooth decay, or a sign of something worse, internal decay, like cancer or something, bad odors come from something bad, usualy. i mean theres bad breath which anyone can have from time to time, a sore throat or something, and then there’s "death breath", what you describe sounds like more than just halitosis.
Strangely enough, it is seldom known that bad breath comes from the tongue. Even if someone brushes their teeth for 2 hours, if the gunk on their tongue isn’t removed (through brushing, a tongue cleaner, etc.) and usually followed by mouthwash, bad breath can creep up almost instantly.
Unfortunately it’s a very touchy subject to bring up. It’d be like telling someone they had body odor, or dirty clothes or something equally socially awkward. Sometimes a person just has to go to the boss though and stand up and say that it’s simply too much, and something has got to be done, because it’s effecting the other employees’ performance.

They may have a gastric infection, because bad breath begins in the stomach actually. However, a good gesture would just to simply pull this person to the side and kindly let them know. They may not have noticed or they may know how to solve it. Im pretty sure they dont want to be known as the person with the HORRIBLE breath. Im pretty sure once they know that someone else has noticed the bad breath, they will mostly likely do something about it. I mean, afterall…if it were you…wouldnt you want someone to tell you WITHOUT embarrassing you?
My boyfriend started having really bad breath for a while.
He smokes but it was beyond that and brushing teeth and gargeling did NOT work. So I researched it, mad him drink green tea, drink more H2O, take more vitamins and eat healthier (which is what I found helps). As poeple that eat unhealthy can have bad breath for the reason that their stomach is full of unhealthy bacteria.
Anyways turns out it did not help, he went to the dentist last week for his check up, turns out he had an infection at the root of one of his tooth and this is why he had bad breath.

Just brushing your teeth doesn’t help bad breath. Most of it comes from your tongue (specially the back). A tongue scrapper is the best way to go and can be picked up at your local drug store. If he brushes his teeth and not his tongue then he is only covering up the smell temporarily. Also things such as coffee, cigarettes, and dairy products contribute to bad breathe. Most people with bad breath don’t know it. Because the mouth is a breeding ground for "bad breath" germs, if you don’t know how to minimize them or you don’t take care of your mouth then your breath will be vicious. Besides breath I find that when most people have a flaw they don’t try to fix it because they don’t know. So the best way to deal with it is to tell the person. Then they will research it themselves. If it is a friend, then tell them caringly and they will appreciate it after a while. If it is an enemy, then tell them because you don’t care how they feel lol. If it is a somewhat neutral person then tell them anonymously through email, a note etc.
There could be many reasons this person is suffering from halitosis. One of the main culprits could be periodontal disease, this can cause very foul breath no matter what the person does to try to hide it with gums, mints, or sprays. Other causes could be medications they might currently be taking.
I can completely relate to you and your coworkers feelings towards this person, but if you know this person well enough and feel comfortable, perhaps you could approach them on the subject. It is sad to say, but if it really is as bad as you say it is, they could be in advanced stages of gum disease and they should seek the treatment of a dentist for this problem.
Daily? Brushing the teeth should be every after meal, three times a day. It not just brushing, using the floss is very important. It takes away the food particles that the toothbrush cannot reach. Tongue scraping is very important too. It cleans your tongue and removes the food particles that is left.
Bad breath is caused by a lot of things even if the person brushes his or her teeth regularly. Causes?
1. Smoking. Does your co-worker smoke? Smoking makes your breath stink.
2. He or she has a cavity in his or her teeth. Sometimes the cavity is so big that the tooth should be extracted.
3. He or she needs to go to his or her dentist to let him or her clean his or her teeth. Maybe your co-worker has calcular deposits already, and you cannot remove it just by brushing the teeth.
4. Hungry. Our stomach has acids. That acid doesn’t smell nice. When a person is hungry, the more the stomach becomes acidic, so the gases that the stomach produces, travels to the esophagus then out to the mouth.
5. Stomach problem.
6. The food that your co-worker eats. There are certain types of food that makes your breath stink. (onions, garlic, and etc.)
Advice your c-worker to visit his or her dentist.
