The bad breath is coming from the gut. Feed a high quality food with no more then 2 grains listed in the first 5 ingredients. The cheaper the food, the nastier the breath. You can try brushing your dogs teeth and if it works totally and gets rid of it...thats a miracle! Its normal for a dog to have bad breath, so I wouldnt be worried..just stay out of his/her face and by his/her mouth!! there is also breath sprays that might work, or go to your vet to ask, its better coming from a professional! :) a better dog food might lessen the deadlyness of your dogs breath..lol..im just kidding..it cant be that bad..can it? Because they have small mouths-I found some "child size" toothbrushes with a bent head 5/$1.00 at a discount store that are doing the job perfectly with some baking soda. (You don't have to make them rinse or gargle) After the first time, they seem enjoy it. If you feed canned food, try to avoid "in gravy" or "in sauce" varieties-it's like glue and sticks to their hair around their mouth as well as inside on teeth and gums. Dog food can sour quickly. Have a good quality 'dry' food available and frozen butcher shop bones are great as long as they are too big to swallow whole. Rawhide chews I have avoided as I had one dog almost choke to death on one-probably due to small dog size. It's nice to share, but limit table scrapes.
