Your brother should go to the doctor since underlying health conditions like diabetes can cause bad breath. Have him go to a general practitioner, have them run some blood tests, and have the doctor recommend him to the appropriate specialist(s).
One should be brushing after every meal, roughly three times per day for at least two minutes at a time. One should be using floss after every meal, and use mouthwash and a tongue scraper at least twice each day. Pay attention to what kinds of foods that one is eating, and avoid milk, garlic, onions, etc. Dry mouth and post nasal drip can cause bad breath, so keep hydrated and try nasal spray/drops. Have regular dental checkups (roughly once every six months) to ensure that you do not have cavities or gum disease.
One might want to avoid gum and mints that contain sugar because sugar actually FEEDS the bad breath-causing bacteria!
One can also try natural cures such as baking soda, green cardamom, parsley/mint garnishes, brussel sprouts, and green tea. These help deodorize the halitosis. Also, since yogurt and probiotics have good bacteria, he should have that as well.
ive read that eating yoghurt for 6 weeks cures it so i’d try that.
While brushing his teeth, does he brush his tongue and pallet (roof of the mouth)? The bacteria that cause halitosis (bad breath) are generally overlooked when brushing in these areas for indiviuals with this problem.
