I have really bad breathe a lot. I have never been to the dentist before in my life and I am 19 years old. I brush my teeth everyday and I even brush my tongue. Sometimes I don’t eat breakfast which I know can cause bad breath. But I want to know is there anything else I can do besides going to the dentist to cure this? Please help!

Keep in mind that the primary cause of bad breath is the tongue where bacteria grow and produce those bad smells. The back one-third of the tongue must be cleaned to get rid of bad breath. Mints, gum, mouthwash, and even toothpaste will cover up this bad breath for a short time. The best cure is to brush and floss your teeth and then clean the back of your tongue with a good quality tongue cleaner, not a toothbrush or a scraper. I learned about OraBrush 6 months ago and have been cleaning my tongue with it since then with excellent results. The bad breath you have by not eating is not from your stomach but from your tongue because eating helps to remove some of the bacteria. After cleaning your tongue you can use a little mouthwash or you can even clean your tongue with a combination OraBrush and mouthwash just to give you a little more confidence that your tongue is clean. The best way to judge if your tongue is clean is to look in the mirror before and after you clean your tongue to see that you have remove all of the white stuff.
uhhhh try to brush ur teeth more then once umm…. eat breath mints
Brush your tongue thoroughly floss your teeth make sure you brush 3x a day. Some store carry a line of products call breath rx you could try that
You should try a tongue scraper. Bad breath is caused by bacteria and oftentimes it is towards the very back of your tongue. So when you just brush your tongue, all you’re doing is spreading the bacteria around instead of removing it. You can get a tongue scraper from any drugstore’s dental aisle, or from your dental hygienist. Also, try a mouthrinse that contains fluoride and is alcohol free. ACT is a good brand that I always recommend to my patients. Just make sure you look for the alcohol free kind since alcohol can dry out the tissues in your mouth and you don’t want that. And of course, brushing twice a day and flossing once a day will help.
By the way, if you are 19 years old and have never been to the dentist, you need to go. Not getting your teeth cleaned by a professional on a regular basis can lead to periodonal disease due to the plaque buildup below the gumline that you can’t remove with a toothbrush. It can lead to bone loss in your jaw and eventually tooth loss. Not trying to scare you, but it’s true. If you’re anxious about going to the dentist, don’t be! We are there to help you and are not judgmental no matter how long it has been since you had your teeth cleaned, even if you never have.
Well my first response is to visit the dentist for a professional cleaning…you may have something more going on than bad breath.
Do you smoke? Obviously we know that smoking is a number one contributor to bad breath.
How good is your oral hygiene? I recommend brushing definitely morn and night and inbetween meals if possible. Floss before you brush at night and use a rinse after brushing and flossing. I prefer ACT mouthrinse.
When you brush, make sure to also brush your tongue. A lot of bacteria will settle on the tongue if they are not brushed away everyday.
Now why did I first mention get a professional cleaning…
Well when plaque is left on a tooth, it hardens into calculus and this calculus could be affecting your gums, possibly causing irritation which all in all can contribute to chronic bad breath. This calculus has to be removed professionally.
Good luck!
you need a tongue scraper! thats where most the bad breath is from! OH and you should get Scope Mouthwash!! it helps!
Bad breath can be caused by many things. Sometimes poor breath can be caused by medical conditions, but many times to cure bad breath you just have to step up your oral hygiene routine. I would personally suggest NuvoraBreath as it keeps your mouth fresh all day long.
Gargle a cup of lukewarm water mixed with salt or half a lemon juice. This is best done before going to bed. Chew parsley leaves, which are sure to keep your breath fresh. Put a few drops of tea tree oil on your toothbrush top it with toothpaste, and then brush your teeth and don’t swallow. More useful remedies at http://useinfo5.blogspot.com/
