How do you politley tell someone their breath smells without offending them?

You can’t. When they are out to lunch, discretely leave some breath mints on their desk.
pull out a package of gum (or a mint) grab a piece for your self and then say hey you want one it taste great and makes your breath smell minty fresh!
Or if your really brave take this person aside and sey hey, i’ve noticed your breath is kind of offensive, Im not trying to embarras you or pick on you but unlike my self other people may choose to be crude instead of being truthfull, you might want to try some gum or a mint.
I have a friend like that, so I just pull out a pack of gum and eat a piece. Usually, she then ask for a piece or I offer a piece. Either way I keep gum just for her so we can continue to be friends. I could never bring myself to tell her that her breath stink.
