I have been a smoker in the past and have had experience with halitosis and furry tongue. I have no problems now that I do not smoke. I think there is definitely a link between smoking and bad breath in that others can smell the smoke and tar residue on the breath. When you don’t smoke, you can really smell a smoker and it is unpleasant.
Bad breath can also be caused by ill health, as can furry tongue. Any bacteria or virus in the system can cause them as can poor diet. If you eat too much junk type food, drink too much alcohol and dehydrate yourself, you will get these problems.
What smoking does to the body is cause circulation problems, particularly in the peripheral blood vessels that is skin, hair, tongue, feet hands etc. In really bad cases of advanced long term smoking you see people with gangrenous feet that have to be amputated. Most people only think lung cancer, but smoking also causes the above plus heart attacks. It clumps the blood, so it does not flow around the body and do it’s job to oxygenate the tissues.
I decided to stop as I want to live a healthy life into old age!
