Bad breath comes from the digestive system, if you have a healthy digestive system that is half the battle.
I use Acidophilus 5 billion & milk free with FOS.
Also chewing on parsley is a good source for a breath freshener.
Swishing you mouth with some sunflower oil will also help.
The best treatment is preventative care. Proper oral hygiene and good eating habits .
Do not forget to brush your tongue.
Good luck to you.
If it is something that is not dentist related and happens occasionally here are a few things that are helpful and natural:
Dip 2 sprigs of parsley in white vinegar & chew it and chew it.
Mix 3 drops of peppermint oil in a glass of warm water. Take a mouthful, swish it around, spit it out, then take another gargle with it and then spit it out and repeat until the glass is empty.
Chew a few fennel seeds, dill seeds or hazelnuts.
Also helps to brush your tongue when you brush your teeth to get off all bacteria.
Lemme tell my experience….some times in school i’m not confident ’bout my breath, so i either put some water in my mouth and gargle (if u gargle u will only remove the bad smell but there won’t be any good or bad smell….water will only neutralize the bad breath ) or chew some peppermint gum… feels good …really!
Parsley works great. Also, bad breath tends to stem from your digestive system, mainly your stomach. If your stomach doesn’t digest things well or takes to long to digest things before moving things on to the intestines, the ’smell’ will seep upward resulting in bad breath. Dandelion root is great for digestive issues, and licorice root (the herb, not the candy) and chamomile too.
Chewing parsley is good. Also oil mouthwashes. Take a thin cooking oil like sunflower oil (olive oil is too thick and might make you gag). Take 1 tbsp in your mouth and swirl it in your mouth for 4 or 5 minutes (or while you take your shower in the morning). Spit out and rinse with warm to hot water. Brush your teeth with toothpaste, as you normally do.
Why it works? The oil dissolves the particles and toxines which are not soluble in water. Normal teeth brushing only takes the bacteria and stuff which is soluble in water. Oil takes the rest. Your teeth feel really smoother and look whiter already one week after you start doing this.
As a preventive, you can also watch your diet. Fatty foods are a source of bad breath, but the worst source of bad breath are dairy products! They are the biggest culprits. As they are not good for us anyway (they acidify the blood), you can safely eliminate them from your diet and get your calcium from green leafy vegetables, sesame seeds, almonds etc.
Aside from the obvious, all natural Alfalfa Complex. Chlorophyll is plentiful in alfalfa, and chlorophyll is known as a body cleanser, infection fighter and nature’s deodorizer. This wonder of nature possesses the property of breaking down poisonous carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen in turn, thus inhibiting or reducing the action of anaerobic bacteria.
Gargle a cup of lukewarm water mixed with salt or half a lemon juice. This is best done before going to bed. Chew parsley leaves, which are sure to keep your breath fresh. Put a few drops of tea tree oil on your toothbrush top it with toothpaste, and then brush your teeth. More useful remedies at http://useinfo5.blogspot.com/

If it is due to an internal problem (not gums or teeth) liquid chlorophyll is probably the best.
